Legal Tips and Locations for Your Spring Elopement in Utah

Springtime in Utah sets the stage for a breathtaking elopement, allowing couples to say “I do” amidst its picturesque landscapes. Imagine saying “I do” with Utah’s landscapes full of liveliness and color all around you. When spring hits, Utah quite literally bursts into life with blooming flowers, animals, and those perfect, just-right temperatures. If you’re considering a spring elopement in Utah, here are some of my tips to help you craft your perfect day. We are going to go over some of the basic permits and marriage laws and regulations and some of my favorite locations for spring ceremonies. Let’s dive in!

Let’s get the legal stuff sorted out first so you can focus on the fun! Here’s what you’ll need:

Permits: Whether you elope in a national park or another location in Utah, most destinations in Utah require a special use permit to be married in a natural space. Your photographer may also need a permit, so it’s important to research your destination’s specific rules and regulations so that you can focus on your experience when the time comes!

License: You will need to sign your marriage license ‘in person’ rather than online. Plan accordingly so you have enough time to stop by the county clerk and make it official before your big day!

Witnesses: You need two witnesses to sign your marriage license. You can invite the people who mean most to you, or if you’d like a more intimate experience, have your photographer and videographer as witnesses.

Here is a little post-ceremony tip;)

If you’re planning an elopement in Utah, don’t forget to set aside some time to explore and take in all the wonders of the beehive state! Utah offers the perfect playground for outdoorsy, nature-loving couples to celebrate their special day. From cruising around the landscape of Zion in an ATV to lounging in the water at Lake Powell while soaking up the perfect weather, there are countless ways to truly soak in the ultimate Utah experience – And don’t forget to let yourself indulge in the variety of local restaurants!

Now let’s get into the exciting stuff… my favorite Utah locations in the spring. Utah is home to five national parks, and its diverse scenery offers the perfect location for every couple. From the mountain ranges to wildflower fields, you are guaranteed an unforgettable celebration of love. These are some of my absolute favorite elopement locations.

Bloods Lake, Park City, Utah

Bloods Lake is the perfect destination for a cozy and intimate ceremony, surrounded by gorgeous lush greenery and calming body of water. The subtle sounds of the water and wind rustling through the leaves provide an overwhelming sense of serenity and peace for your special day.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Kane County Utah

Located in Kanab is one of Southern Utah’s most treasured hidden gems. Here, you are immersed in nature’s beauty, with a warm, pink landscape and breathtaking mountain views. These sand dunes will leave you with a stack of photos that make you say “Oh my gosh, is this even real?”.

Bonneville Salt Flats, Toole County Utah

The Bonneville Salt Flats is a dried-up lake that has turned into a 30,000-acre salt pan for locals and travelers to admire and explore. You can enjoy a secluded, intimate celebration surrounded by an otherworldly landscape. If you’re looking for a unique destination for your elopement, you may have found your match!
